2026 Encampment May 01 Update

May 1, 2026

New Mexico Wing Members and Parents

We have officially closed registration for the 2026 New Mexico Summer Encampment, and you have all successfully completed that registration process. This year, we will have representation from 3 states, excluding New Mexico, continuing our proud tradition of showcasing the talent of New Mexico Wing to our national CAP family. Thank you for signing up for our encampment. I know you have numerous options across the nation for this landmark activity in your CAP career, and I am confident all our students will enjoy the experience they have with us. I just wanted to discuss a few things to get us started.

First, our administration team will likely reach out to you to correct issues with your registration paperwork. Having these issues does not affect your registration status with our encampment, but the Air Force requires additional forms for the orientation flights we are planning. Please fill out the forms correctly and honestly, and return any corrected forms to the registration zone as quickly as possible. Additionally, you will receive instructions on how to request base access for our three base-visit days. This is extremely important for anyone over 18; they must have a REAL ID-compliant passport or DoD ID to enter the base. If your cadet will require any of these, be sure they bring them.

Second, I have sent via email several important documents for your cadets to review. The Standard Operating Procedures, Dormitory Standards, and Student Packing List are the same items you will find on the registration zone, and all students are expected to show up with a working knowledge of these documents. They may bring copies of these, but they will not have time to study them thoroughly once they arrive; we will be busy from the moment they show up. Next, you will see workout plans we created to help students better prepare for the physical requirements of encampment and to help prevent injuries or exacerbate pre-existing injuries. Please encourage your cadet students and keep them accountable for completing these exercises as they are able, leading up to encampment. These are not required, but are encouraged to help them have a better experience. Please reach out to our encampment admin team's organizational inbox with any questions encadmin@nmcap.us.

Third, we will have a virtual parent meeting on June 13th at 3 pm MST, where all parents of cadet students are encouraged to attend. At this meeting, you will be introduced to our command staff, learn specifics on where to drop off your cadets, what to do for final preparations, the safety and health measures we are taking to keep your cadets safe, and where to meet your cadets for graduation. For your future planning, graduation will take place on June 28th at New Mexico Technical Institute in Socorro, NM, at 1200 pm MST. After the parent meeting, we will conduct some mandatory virtual training with students in preparation for in-processing. A link for both of these sessions will be sent out in early June.

Lastly, over the next two months, it is imperative that all cadet students maintain good health. If anything changes over the coming weeks, please update your CAP Health profile on eServices and notify our Health Services Officer (HSO) team, led by Capt Thomas Massing, at the following email address: thomas.massing@nmwg.cap.gov. This ensures our HSO team is adequately informed of your cadet’s condition to better prevent new or aggravated injuries.

Our staff has been hard at work preparing for this year’s encampment, and we are all excited to meet you and your cadets during in-processing. We look forward to seeing you in two months!
