2026 Encampment June 01 Update

June 1, 2026

Encampment Parents, Students, and Squadron Commanders

Happy June to everyone! Hopefully, the summer heat is not dampening anyone’s ability to enjoy the summertime. The heat is not limiting our staff’s excitement for the summer encampment starting in less than a month! As this email marks the last one for this encampment preparation season, I wanted to cover a few important details.

First, flight assignments have been finalized and are attached to this email. Please use the PDF search function (select Ctrl+F) and look for your cadet’s CAPID to determine their flight assignment. Below are the respective reporting (in-processing) times for each flight. Parents are welcome to accompany their cadets through the in-processing line to help answer any questions from our staff. If you are unable to accompany your cadet, please be near a phone or method of communication in case we have to contact you for last-minute clarifications or questions. Cadets will not be in-processed until their respective flight’s reporting time.

Alpha flight reporting time: 12:00 pm

Bravo flight reporting time: 12:30 pm

Charlie flight reporting time: 1:00 pm

Delta flight reporting time: 1:30 pm

Before encampment, we will be hosting a two-session virtual encampment day. It will be held June 13th at 3 pm MST for parents and 4 pm MST for students. The parent session will last an hour, and the student session will go until 6 pm MST.  The first session will be a parent orientation to provide last-minute preparation instructions for parents such as health reminders, communication methods during encampment, and graduation information. The second session for students will include staff introduction, performance expectations, and dormitory standards review. Parents are not required to attend their session, but students are required to attend theirs as it is part of the required encampment curriculum. A failure to attend this session will count against their encampment attendance requirements. Expect to receive an online invite to these sessions within the coming weeks via Teams.

To help us keep your cadets fed and energized during their demanding encampment schedule between regular meals, we are asking for donations of healthy, non-perishable snacks. Cadets can bring these donations with them on day one and will turn them in at in-processing. Thank you in advance for your continued support of all encampment cadets.

You already received an email from our admin team today on the following topic, but I wanted to reinforce it. You must keep Capt Massing and our medical team appraised of your cadet’s health if it changes in any way prior to encampment. This includes major injuries such as twisted ankles or torn muscles all the way down to minor colds. Cadets cannot show up sick or injured to in-processing. Doing so could put them at risk of further injury or the whole student body at risk of catching the respective sickness. Communicating with our medical team early can help prevent any heartache and maximize your cadet’s positive experience at encampment. Please contact our lead Health Services Officer (HSO), Capt Massing, at the following email: thomas.massing@nmwg.cap.gov.

Our admin team also sent an email to all students 18 and older and their parents with instructions on base access. It is imperative that any cadet currently or who will be 18 years or older at encampment complete the base access form via the link below. Failure to do so will result in Kirtland AFB refusing base access to your cadet, resulting in an inability to attend our 3-day base activities. The encampment staff has no control over your cadet gaining access to the base other than providing this link to request access. This form must be filled out by this Wednesday, 3 June, to allow for processing timelines. Furthermore, the cadet must have a REAL ID-compliant, government-issued ID, DoW dependent ID, or current passport at the time we arrive at the gate. Again, a failure to have or obtain this identification will result in a failure to enter the base.

I have attached all of the fitness plans from these last five months to encourage every student to revisit each workout to put the final touch on your physical encampment preparation. Please continue to test yourself in the workouts to prevent injuries during encampment. Your first physical training session will be a PT test to show you and your flight staff what level of fitness and preparation you are at and help us measure your progress during encampment.

I have resend via email other important documents to prepare for encampment (Standard Operating Procedures, Dormitory Standards, and packing list). Students must be familiar with these documents prior to arrival.
