Colonel Andrew F. Selph has been a dedicated member of Civil Air Patrol since 1978, serving in multiple New Mexico Wing squadrons and holding key leadership roles across the wing. He has earned master ratings for completing training in command, cadet programs, inspector general, personnel, and administration, as well as senior and technician ratings in several additional specialty tracks. His emergency services qualifications include mission observer and ground branch director, and he supported New Mexico Wing’s year-long COVID-19 mitigation mission from 2020 to 2021.
A graduate of New Mexico State University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminal Justice, he served 28 years as a state and federal probation officer before retiring. Within Civil Air Patrol, he has commanded squadrons, served as wing inspector general, director of cadet programs, group commander, wing vice commander, and now wing commander. His decades of service have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Spaatz Award (the highest award for CAP cadets), the Gill Robb Wilson Award (signifying completion of the highest level of professional development for adult members), multiple Meritorious Service Awards and Commander’s Commendations, and Red Service Ribbons marking more than 45 years of membership.
